This is one of the two Liverpool Cathedral. This is the older one and it's this huge space with every inch chock full of beautiful details. These pictures were processed in Nik Silver Efex Pro and I was aiming for a sort of architectural drawing style. I like the way the blacks resemble printed ink.
Chester is a beautiful old city with so many wonderful locations to shoot. I spent an evening there in the company of my friends from Welshot shooting night time HDR images. These were all taken with the X100, which has become my new carrying around camera.
The challenge of shooting a subject that has been done before is to bring something new to the table - to add your own stamp. While thinking about these pictures I was taken with the chaos. Smoke flow is a chaotic system and what I've done with these pictures is try to add a little order to the chaos by guiding the eye along those chaotic lines.
Samii is a model based in Crewe, quite near me. She's loads of fun to work with, very bright and full of ideas. We get along great and that's why I've worked with her so much. Any time I get an idea I know I can count on Samii to help me with it.
We've got a wonderful tree in our garden that every autumn produces the most amazing golden and yellow leaves. It's close to home but no less beautiful for that. So one year I decided to try and capture the tree at its best.
These images were all taken during a Welshot Lighting Academy weekend. I often work with Welshot as one of their teachers. This event was led by Will Cheung and involved great deal of experimentation with lights and styles. The models featured are Beth Cammack, Radha Patel, Carla Monaco and Hazel Clarke.
