What is a podcast?

A podcast is like a television or radio show that you can download and watch or listen to on your computer or on an iPod or any other music playing device. You don't need an iPod to watch or listen to a podcast. And best of all you can watch or listen to a podcast whenever it suits you. You can pause, fast forward and rewind at will.

The vast majority of podcasts are completely free and PhotoWalkthrough is no exception. And there are podcasts covering almost every topic under the sun. Take a look at the iTunes podcast directory to find shows that cover YOUR interests.

And the best thing about podcasts is that you can subscribe to them (still for free) using "podcast catcher" software like iTunes. Subscribing simply means that your computer will occasionally check to see if a new show has been released and if it has it will automatically download it for you. And if you have an iPod, an Apple TV or another portable player then shows can automatically be synchronized there for you as well.

Why should I subscribe?

The best thing about subscribing to PhotoWalkthrough's podcast feed is that new shows will automatically be downloaded whenever they're released. You don't need to remember to check, they'll just appear on your computer ready to watch. It's like having a TIVO subscription to a TV show.

Another benefit of subscribing is that it allows me as the producer of the show to see more accurately how many people are watching the show. I don't get ANY personal information from you or your computer. All I get from your subscription is a number telling me how many people downloaded from the podcast feed. This is useful to me because it helps me promote my show. If you watch PhotoWalkthrough and find it useful I'd very much appreciate you taking the time to subscribe. Remember it's free and it'll make watching podcasts much easier.

What do I need to watch PhotoWalkthrough?

Subscribing is free and you'll need some kind of podcast catching software to subscribe through. Apple iTunes is free and comes with Quicktime bundled in. You DON'T need an iPod to watch or listen to a podcast!

What's an RSS feed?

RSS feed is the techie name for a podcast feed. Strictly speaking RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it's a way of letting programs like iTunes know when something new has been published. Podcasting uses RSS to tell podcast catcher software about new shows.
