Tutorial 7, Chapter 1 - Distorted Tree

This week we start a new tutorial that covers some new techniques. We'll steal a few tricks from the Holga style as well as learning a lot about how to make and save selections. This episode I spend most of my time working on Michel van Helden's image of the Latrappe Kloosterbrouwerij in the Netherlands.

I was glad to see some new techniques used on Michel's photo. I am starting to get comfortable with the basics, so am ready to advance a bit. Reviews of more non-landscape photos will help me since I take few landscapes.

Thanks again John. When you mentioned in your email that you wanted to use my picture I didn't think you were gonna make it this long. Learned a lot with this one! Keep 'em comming!

I replaced my new version on flikr, but the old one is also still available.

Bij zijn laatste tutorial (download!) heeft hij één van mijn foto’s gebruikt om een aantal nieuwe technieken te demonstreren. Kan je vetrellen dat mij dit weer met beide benen op de grond heeft gezet! [...]

Hey Michel,

Yeah I didn't really expect to spend almost the entire show on your picture but as I was preparing the show I realised there was quite a bit I could work in along side simply evening up the sky. I hope you don't mind that I went on so long! I did make sure I gave you a credit at the end of the show, though. :)

John
